Congratulations on earning your Level 3 Award in Education and Training. You’ve gained the fundamental knowledge and skills required to become a teacher/trainer in the post-16 education sector.

You’ve made a great first step — but why stop here?

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is just the first milestone on your journey to becoming a qualified teacher or trainer. We strongly recommend enrolling on the Level 4 or Level 5 courses to improve your knowledge, skills and experience.

What next after your level 3 AET

What’s next? – Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training

Upon completion of their Level 3 Award, most learners enrol onto the next level — the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training. The Level 4 CET aims to improve your teaching skills and grow your prospects as a teacher or trainer.

Unlike the Level 3 AET, the Level 4 CET has a teaching and training practice requirement. It is a great way to get real-world teaching/training experience while simultaneously developing your skill set.

The course is comprised of six units:

UNIT NO: 1 — Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training

UNIT NO: 2 — Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training

UNIT NO: 3 — Delivering education and training

UNIT NO: 4 — Assessing learners in education and training

UNIT NO: 5 — Using resources for education and training

UNIT NO: 6 — Developing, using and organising resources in a specialist area

What’s next? – Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

Although most people choose to enrol on the Level 4 course before the Level 5, it is not a requirement. You can, if you wish, enrol immediately onto the Level 5 course to earn your Diploma in Education and Training, provided you have secured a teaching/training role and can meet the 100 hours of teaching practice and 8 observations required..

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is the most advanced of the three teaching and training courses. You’ll be required to undertake 100 hours of teaching practice. With a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, you’ll be equipped with a comprehensive range of teaching/training skills and have demonstrated your proficiency for in-class teaching. Plus, once you’ve completed your Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, you’ll be able to apply for Qualified Teacher Leaning & Skills Status (QTLS).

This course is comprised of seven units:

UNIT NO: 1 — Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training

UNIT NO: 2 — Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training

UNIT NO: 3 — Theories, principles and models in education and training

UNIT NO: 4 — Wider professional practice and development in education and training

UNIT NO: 5 — Developing, using and organising resources in a specialist area

UNIT NO: 6 — Inclusive practice

UNIT NO: 7 — Teaching in a specialist area

What’s next? – Employment

Earning teaching/training qualifications opens many doors to new roles. Some teaching/training roles will require you to have a Level 5 Diploma or QTLS to apply, whereas others won’t have any specific entry requirements. Remember — earning a qualification of a higher level will improve your job prospects and make you a more appealing candidate for each role.

Here are some examples of how you might use your teaching qualification:

  • Vocational training — Preparing learners for work and sharpening professional skills
  • Academic training — Teaching subjects at GCSE and A-level
  • English and Maths — Teaching basic skills in numeracy and literacy

With a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, you can now consider applying for or taking the next steps towards teaching or training adults in the following sectors:

  • Health industry
  • Beauty industry
  • Care homes
  • NHS Trusts
  • Emergency services
  • Midwifery
  • HM Forces
  • Laboratory technicians
  • Security industry
  • Librarians
  • Veterinarians
  • Private doctors
  • Special needs education
  • Secondary education
  • Primary and nursery education

But remember — earning your Level 4 or Level 5 qualifications are the best way to improve your chances of finding employment as a teacher or trainer. At CTC Training, we offer the Level 4 and Level 5 teaching and training qualifications with all the same great benefits that you enjoyed during your Level 3 course. You’ll gain access to our 24/7 student portal, where you can view course content and upload assessments at your leisure.
